HAIR CUTTING

Chuda Karana

The hair-cutting ceremony is an important activity undertaken with great delight by the parents of a newly born child. This ceremony is performed during a child's first year, or as an option during the third or fifth year. The ceremony is used to prolong the life of the child, remove impurities and grant strength, vigor, life, purity and beauty. Apart from these physical benefits, this ceremony also begins the child's spiritual development through the act of renunciation.
