| Introductory Programme The word ashram offers a vision of a spiritual sanctuary. In India, ashram is that place which one attends for a spiritual retreat, education and self-development. Bhaktivedanta Manor offers this sanctum through its residential training programme. Students enrol on an initial three-month introductory course. Within this, early rising, meditation, study of scripture and undertaking a variety of services is encouraged. The students are encouraged to utilise their time cultivating a foundation of Krishna consciousness. Experienced teachers assist and guide the students to develop not only a firm understanding of spiritual life, but also a strong attitude of service to the missionary work of Krishna consciousness.
