Haiti Earthquake appeal

The victims of the earthquake in Haiti urgently need your help

Estimates of those killed by the massive earthquake measuring 7.0 point on the Richter scale that struck the nation of Haiti at 5pm local time on Tuesday, 12th January range from 75,000 to 100,000, most buried alive due to collapsing buildings. Tens of thousands of homes have been destroyed and people’s livelihoods devastated.

Damaged roads have made it difficult to get help to the worst affected areas and there are concerns that supply of drinking water will only last a few more days.

In fear of the extent of the disaster, the President of Haiti has requested the international community “Please give generously so aid agencies can bring medicine, clean water, and other essentials to help get these people back on their feet.”

The Lotus Trust (the welfare arm of Bhaktivedanta Manor) is working with partner food relief organisations currently with a base in nearby Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic where food supplies are being prepared to go into Haiti once the roads are cleared to ensure local people receive vital help.

Your donations are crucial, 200 meals can be served for as little as £30.

Please give generously
