PRASADAM SEVA

Distributing the Lord's mercy

Prasadam (sanctified food) is distributed in abundance at the end of every ceremony, arati or festival. It is a special aspect of worship all pilgrims participate in. To honour the prasadam of the Lord is a great privilege, and devotees eagerly await their turn to receive a share of 'the Lord's mercy.'

Cooked and prepared by brahmana devotees, a mood of love and devotion is evoked in the process. Before tasting, the preparations are offered to the Deities. Lord Krishna says, "Whatever, you eat - do that as an offering unto Me." Following tradition, devotees at Bhaktivedanta Manor serve many offerings to the Lord throughout the day, after which, the prasadam is distributed with great joy.

During the festivals, prasadam is enjoyed by thousands of visiting guests and devotees. Bhaktivedanta Manor thus holds a high reputation for its distribution of Krishna prasadam. It is mentioned by the Lord that He, "relishes the delicacies overflowing with ghee which are offered to the mouths of devotees who are thus ever satisfied with His prasadam."

Thus partaking in the distribution of prasadam is very pleasing to the Lord - and this opportunity is given to you in prasadam-seva. You can offer this unique service in the following way:

Monday till Saturday the main lunch prasadam can be sponsored for a nominal £151.

On Sundays, for the main feasts, morning and evening, a nominal cost of £301 helps towards the cost of each serving.
