SUMMARY:Jhulan Yatra
DESCRIPTION:27 – 31 August 2023\n\nThe five-day celebration of Jhulan at Bhaktivedanta Manor\, when Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda are placed on a swing and swung by Their devotees\, is a joyous occasion. \nDuring this special time all of us can throng to the temple and please the transcendental eternal forms of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda. These transcendental forms of the Lord\, called Archa-Vigraha\, are installed in the temple and are non-different from Them personally. These forms are expanded by the Lord by His internal potency to facilitate the devotional service of His innumerable devotees who are in the material world. \nSince our material senses cannot perceive the spiritual nature of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda\, They accept such Archa Vigraha apparently made of a material element such as marble\, but actually there is no material contamination. The  Supreme Personality of Godhead and His eternal consort are waiting for us to fill our hearts with transcendental happiness by serving Their beautiful transcendental forms as They swing at Bhaktivedanta Manor during Jhulan-yatra. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\nMorning 7am \nEvening 4:45pm-6:15pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. SUMMARY:London Rathayatra
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 30 July 2023 – Hyde Park Corner\n\n“Ratha-yatra” means “chariot festival”. This celebration has been held every year for hundreds of years at Jagannatha Puri\, in Orissa on India’s east coast. There\, three huge chariots\, carrying the Deity forms of Jagannatha\, Baladeva and Subhadra\, are pulled by hand through the city streets amid loud musical performances. Millions of pilgrims come to the festival in Orissa. Jagannatha is a special and very merciful form of Krishna. \nRatha-yatra is the biggest street festival sponsored by ISKCON – and ends with a delicious\, sanctified vegetarian feast. It is celebrated by devotees of Lord Krishna all over the world and was introduced to the West by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1967 in San Franscisco. The Ratha-yatra festivals are held at several different places across the country\, the biggest in London. \nThe London procession starts from Hyde Park Corner\, goes through Park Lane\, Piccadilly and Haymarket and finally arrives at Trafalgar Square\, where festivities continue till night. Drama\, dance\, philosophy and a feast are the highlights. \nLondon Rathayatra will take place on Sunday 30 July 2023 (www.rathayatra.co.uk) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\n12pm – Ratha-yatra parade starts from Hyde Park Corner heading for Trafalgar Square \n2-5pm – Trafalgar Square – Kirtan\, Dance\, Prasad \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do I get there?\n\n\n\nComing by Train & Tube\nFrom any of the main London railway stations come on the Piccadilly Line and get off at Hyde Park Corner. When you come out of the tube station head for the south-east corner of the Park. The Rathayatra assembles near there so look out for the tall brightly coloured canopies of the Rath Carts. \nNational Rail Enquiries for rail information. \nComing by Road\nParking on Sunday is OK on single yellow lines in Westminster or you can stay safe with the NCP car parks. There is one just north of Trafalgar Square. Please remember there is no parking at the assembly point in Hyde Park nor any at Trafalgar Square. \nThe AA main routes and parking information. The procession assembles just inside Hyde Park -500 yards west of Hyde Park Corner. You will clearly spot the three colourful carts as you approach. There are three or four kirtan (singing and instrument) sections\, each with dancers. You can pull the ropes on the cart (which bestows liberation) but please follow the instructions of stewards and staff. The cart leaves Hyde Park promptly at mid-day and arrives at Trafalgar Square around 2.30pm. This can feel like a long journey on a hot day and a OAP van is provided at the rear of the procession for the infirm. Bring a bottle of water to refresh yourself along the way. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Preview from previous festivals

The Gita can also be divided into three sections (6 chapters each): \nSection 1: Karma Yoga\nSection 2: Bhakti Yoga\nSection 3: Jnana Yoga \nThe word “yoga” is nowadays associated with stretching postures and exercises\, yet its true meaning is “the process of linking”. Specifically\, it refers to the process of linking our activities to the Supreme Person\, God. \nThe daily reading of Bhagavad Gita together with chanting the Hare Krishna mantra can bring about rapid spiritual advancement for any person. \nOut of numerous translations of the Gita\, “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” shines foremost as it brings to bear the purity and competence of its author and offers answers carefully preserved by a chain of teachers which can be traced back to Lord Sri Krishna. \n“Bhagavad Gita As It Is” consists of Sanskrit verses together with translations and purports by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Within the pages of the Gita\, the workings of karma\, reincarnation and yoga are to be found\, as instructed by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. \nWe invite you to explore this marvellous work. \n\n\nRefresh your soul in the company of senior vaishnavas. The entire 700 verses of the Gita will be recited\, and chapter summaries will be presented. A fire yajna will be conducted throughout the recitation. \nGita Jayanti offers the opportunity to celebrate the appearance of Bhagavad Gita and to distribute this gem to many others. You are invited to sponsor Bhagavad Gitas and distribute them to your friends\, family and colleagues. Alternatively the Temple on your behalf will place them in schools\, universities\, hospitals or prisons through its various programmes. \nThe Bhagavad Gita is a transcendental dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and His devotee Arjuna. Spoken at the outset of a great battle\, it is an encyclopedia for humanity. \nIn contrast to the atheistic scientist’s purely physical (and hence incomplete) description of everything\, Bhagavad Gita makes a distinction between the spiritual self and the material body. \nThe mind\, intelligence and senses are discussed in terms of their strengths and limitations\, and guidelines are given for their intended use. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Do I need a ticket to attend?\n\n\n\nNo ticket is required. The name itself comes from Dipavali\, a Sanskrit word referring to the countless rows of lamps which His citizens had lit throughout the kingdom to welcome Him back home (dipa means “lamp\, light or candle\,” and avali means “rows”). During a different era\, this was also the day when Lord Krishna performed His childhood pastime of breaking pots of yogurt and letting His mother bind Him with rope. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Five Days of Diwali\n\n\n\n\nThe first day of Diwali is called Dhanvantari Trayodasi\, which is when Lord Dhanvantari appeared on this planet in order to give Ayurvedic medicine to mankind. On this day\, Hindus pray for protection from untimely death. \nThe second day of Diwali is called Naraka Chaturdasi\, and is the day upon which Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasura and liberated the 16\,000 princesses which the demon had been holding captive. \nThe third day is the actual day of Diwali\, which is when Lord Rama returned to His kingdom after successfully rescuing Sita and defeating the demon Ravana. On this day\, Hindus pray for the blessings of wealth and prosperity\, and for the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. \nOn the fourth day\, Hindus perform Govardhana Puja\, or worship of the sacred hill of Govardhana\, a tradition which Lord Krishna Himself started roughly five thousand years ago. \nThe fifth day of Diwali is called Bhratri Dooj\, which is a day dedicated to honouring the bond between brothers and sisters. Brothers visit their sisters to enquire about their welfare\, and sisters pray for their brothers’ safety\, success and wellbeing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnnakuta / Govardhana-puja\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Preview from previous festivals

DESCRIPTION:Sunday 28 August 2022\n\nBathing ceremony for Lord Jagannatha\, Baladeva\, and Subhadra in the Sri Krishna Haveli at Bhaktivedanta Manor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\n9:15 am – Arrival and Welcome of Jagannatha\, Baladeva & Subhadra \n10:15 am – Abhishek \n1:00 pm – Sringar & Raj Bhoga \n2:oo pm – Hathi Vesha Darshan (Elephant Outfit) & Kirtan \n4:00 pm – Vaikalika Bhoga \n4:20 pm – Arati \n4:40 pm – Jagannatha\, Baladeva & Subhadra depart for London \nGuidelines for bathing during Snana-yatra\nPlease approach in a clean condition and follow the instructions of the pujaris. Do ask if you are unsure about anything. \nPujaris are unable to carry your children so kindly carry very small ones (1 child per adult)\, unless they can walk. If a child is distressed\, please wait until they have calmed down before approaching to bathe. \nYoung children (those under 7 years) will not be given a conch of their own and will need to share with an adult. They can hold the adult’s arm or body. \nDo not touch the Deities. \nPlease only bathe the Deities once\, even if you wish to bathe on behalf of someone else. Before or on receiving the conch\, silently declare to the Lord the names of the one or two people you are bathing for (including yourself). \nDo not carry bags while bathing. You will be asked to put them down and collect them again once you have finished bathing. A rucksack is OK. \nBathe from the top only. That means the head of the Deities only – not the feet or arms. \nDo not take selfies while bathing. Give the camera or phone to someone else who is not on the stage. \nPlease offer your obeisances off the stage. \nDevotees are always eager to serve. Please do so at the Snana-yatra festival by bathing the Deities. Kindly do not approach to wave a fan or hold the Deity\, even if you are brahman initiated. You will be refused\, and we do not wish to offend any persons. \nSri Sri Jagannatha Baladeva Subhadra ki jaya! \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. They are both one and the same identity. They differ only in form. In Lord Krishna’s pastimes\, He plays as Krishna’s older brother. Together Krishna and Balarama enact many pastimes as cowherd boys in the land of Vrindavan. \nLord Balarama exemplifies the service attitude to Krishna. His only mission is to please Krishna by rendering service to Him\, whether it is in the creation of the material worlds\, maintaining the spiritual world or as His personal paraphernalia. \nLord Balarama is the eternal companion of Sri Krishna. He came as Laxman with Rama and later as Sri Nityananda Prabhu with Lord Caitanya.
