SUMMARY:Disappearance of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur
DESCRIPTION:Friday 5 July 2024\nSrila Bhaktivinoda Thakur (1838-1914) is a prominent preceptor acharya in our succession of spiritual masters and disciples coming from Lord Krishna. He was a pioneering spiritual leader\, a householder\, a magistrate working in colonial India under the British rule\, a prolific preacher\, writer\, and poet. He wrote volumes of books reintroducing the pure teachings of Lord Chaitanya at a time when those teachings had practically become lost. He composed hundreds of devotional songs glorifying Krishna to uplift the consciousness of the suffering people of this world. He corresponded with philosophers\, theologians\, leaders\, scholars\, and professors of his time and sent books\, including The Life and Precepts of Lord Chaitanya\, to university libraries in foreign countries\, planting the seeds for a worldwide movement of Krishna consciousness. Bhaktivinoda Thakur discovered and excavated the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya. Along with his devoted wife\, Bhagavati Devi\, he raised ten children\, including the illustrious Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur\, who would become a great spiritual leader in his own time and the spiritual master of ISKCON’s founder-acharya\, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. \nDisappearance of Sri Gadhadhara Pandit \nAlso celebrated on this day is the Disappearance of Sri Gadadhara Pandit. Sri Gadadhara Pandita is among the group known as the Panca-tattva\, consisting of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and four of His closest associates. Sri Gadadhara Pandita spent most of his life in Jagannatha Puri worshiping the Tota-Gopinatha Deity\, who is still worshiped in Puri. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 7 July 2024\n\nBathing ceremony for Lord Jagannatha\, Baladeva\, and Subhadra in the Sri Krishna Haveli at Bhaktivedanta Manor. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\n9:15am – Arrival and Welcome of Jagannatha\, Baladeva & Subhadra at Sri Krishna Haveli \n9:45am – Abhishek Ceremony starts \n1pm – Abhishek Ceremony ends and Sringar \n2pm – Raj Bhoga \n2:25pm – Raj Bhoga Arati with Hathi Vesha Darshan (Elephant Outfit) & Kirtan \n4pm – Vaikalika Bhoga \n4:20pm – Dhupa Arati \n4:45pm – Jagannatha\, Baladeva & Subhadra depart \nGuidelines for bathing during Snana-yatra\nPlease approach in a clean condition and follow the instructions of the pujaris. Do ask if you are unsure about anything. \nPujaris are unable to carry your children so kindly carry very small ones (1 child per adult)\, unless they can walk. If a child is distressed\, please wait until they have calmed down before approaching to bathe. \nYoung children (those under 7 years) will not be given a conch of their own and will need to share with an adult. They can hold the adult’s arm or body. \nDo not touch the Deities. \nPlease only bathe the Deities once\, even if you wish to bathe on behalf of someone else. Before or on receiving the conch\, silently declare to the Lord the names of the one or two people you are bathing for (including yourself). \nDo not carry bags while bathing. You will be asked to put them down and collect them again once you have finished bathing. A rucksack is OK. \nBathe from the top only. That means the head of the Deities only – not the feet or arms. \nDo not take selfies while bathing. Give the camera or phone to someone else who is not on the stage. \nPlease offer your obeisances off the stage. \nDevotees are always eager to serve. Please do so at the Snana-yatra festival by bathing the Deities. Kindly do not approach to wave a fan or hold the Deity\, even if you are brahman initiated.
