SUMMARY:Diwali Darshan
DESCRIPTION:Friday 1 November 2024\n\nThe festival of Diwali is traditionally observed for five days\, but it mainly celebrates the joyful day upon which Lord Rama returned to the kingdom of Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. The name itself comes from Dipavali\, a Sanskrit word referring to the countless rows of lamps which His citizens had lit throughout the kingdom to welcome Him back home (dipa means “lamp\, light or candle\,” and avali means “rows”). During a different era\, this was also the day when Lord Krishna performed His childhood pastime of breaking pots of yogurt and letting His mother bind Him with rope. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\nSubject to change \nDarshan: 10am-7:30pm \nFarm: 10am-6pm \nCafé: 10am-7:30pm \nNo stage program or fireworks \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDonate\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDo I need a ticket to attend?\n\n\n\nNo ticket required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. SUMMARY:Disappearance of Srila Gaura Kishora das Babaji
DESCRIPTION:Disappearance of Srila Gaura Kishora das Babaji + Bhishma Panchaka begins\n\n	Tuesday 12 November 2024\n\nSchedule\nLocation: Temple Room \n4:20pm-7:30pm – Candle Offerings for Kartik \n– \n4:30pm – Kirtans & Bhajans\n5:30pm – Pushpanjali\n6pm – Class by Kartik Chandra Das\n7pm – Damodarastakam \nPrasadam served from 5pm-6:30pm (in the Sri Krishna Haveli) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	About\n\nSrila Gaura Kishora das Babaji \nSrila Gaura Kishora das Babaji was the spiritual master of Srila Bhktisiddhanta Goswami (Srila Prabhupada’s guru)\, intimate student of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur\, and is an acharya in our line of disciplic succession. \nSrila Gaura Kishora das Babaji lived a life of humility and poverty\, true attributes of a Vaisnava. He never accepted material goods from anyone\, wearing discarded loincloths from corpses left on the bank of the Ganges. He begged for rice\, soaking it in river water\, and adding only salt and chilies. Accepting no favors\, he remained fully detached from all possessions. \nSrila Gaura Kishora das Babaji lived for some thirty years in Vrindavana\, serving the deities and offering his prostrate obeisances to all the living entities of Vraja\, whom he considered to be embodiments of Sri Krsna. He eventually left Vrindavana for Navadvipa. \nAt Navadvipa\, Srila Gaura Kishora das Babaji entered moods of deep spiritual ecstasy\, sometimes dancing on the bank of the Ganges chanting\, “Gaura\, Gaura”. \nBhishma Panchaka \nThe last five days of the month of Kartik are traditionally known as Bhishma Panchaka or Vishnu Panchaka. Those who fail to observe four months of Caturmasya fasting receive the same benefit by fasting on these last five days. \nRūpa Gosvāmī has stated in the Nectar of Devotion that although any devotional service offered to the Lord is extremely powerful\, five are especially potent; \n1- Residing in the holy place \n2- Worshipping the Deity of the Lord \n3- Reciting Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam \n4- Serving a devotee \n5- Chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra \nAt the temple\, we automatically engage in all five potent activities. Bhaktivedanta Manor is a holy place because Radha Gokulananda are residing there. Attending the arati ceremony involves worshipping the deity and chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra. Associating with the devotees at the temple allows us to offer service and hear Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam from them. \nVisit Bhaktivedanta Manor temple and engage in the five potent activities during the powerful five days of the most auspicious month of Kartik. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. Free parking will be available all day. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do I get there?\n\n\n\nAddress Bhaktivedanta Manor Hilfield Lane Watford Sat-Nav: WD25 8HE \nNote: Entrance to temple is via Hilfield Lane only.
