DESCRIPTION:17 October – 15 November 2024\n\nDuring this time\, pilgrims come from far and wide to offer a lamp to Mother Yasoda and Lord Krishna. The importance of this month is described extensively in the scriptures\, especially in Srila Rupa Goswami’s Mathura Mahatmya. \nEvery day\, devotees come to the Temple and offer a candle to Lord Damodara. The Damodarastakam\, a series of eight beautiful verses by the great sage Satyavrata Muni\, is sung daily in the morning and evening. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Daily Schedule\n\nMorning\n7am-7:20am \nEvening\n4:20pm  – 7:30pm \nNotes:\nCandles will be provided free of charge to everyone. Please do not bring your own candles\, lamps or ghee wicks for offering. One candle per person. \nOfferings will be paused between 6:30pm – 7pm as the curtains will be closed at this time. During this time there will be a special talk given on Krishna’s pastimes. \nChildren under 5 will not be given a candle. DESCRIPTION:Sun 13 October 2024 – Free ticket required for entry between 2pm – 7pm\nDussehra celebrates the victory of Lord Ramachandra over Ravana during the battle in Lanka. This pastime appears in the great epic Ramayana. The word Dussehra comes from the word `dus` meaning `ten’ and `hara`\, meaning `annihilated`\, referring to the destruction of the ten-headed Ravana. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETING UPDATE\nAll tickets are currently sold out.  Due to the recent wet weather all our fields are water logged and not suitable for parking. This has limited the number of people who can come to this event. We will not be releasing anymore tickets.  If people cancel tickets they will become available on the booking platforms. Without a ticket you will not be let in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow long can I stay?\n\n\n\nYou are welcome to stay and enjoy the festivities for as long as you like. Your ticket time only relates to your arrival time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I arrive earlier / later than my booked arrival time?\n\n\n\nIf you arrive 30 mins before or after your booked arrival time\, then you will still be allowed entry. Any earlier than that\, we may ask you to please come back later\, closer to your booked time. Any later than that\, we will try our best to accommodate you\, but it may not be possible to allow entry due to limited parking. Please arrive as close to your booked arrival time as possible. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDisabled Access for the Burning of Ravana\n\n\n\nPlease note that the Burning of the effigy of Ravana will take place in the fields\, and the terrain could be muddy and bumpy. After death\, if by chance the father does not get ordinary life or goes to the hellish condition of life\, the son will deliver. Therefore śrāddha ceremony. Śrāddha ceremony means to offer foodstuff to Viṣṇu\, and with the prasādam\, to the forefathers or father it is offered\, so that by eating prasādam\, if he is in ghost life or in hellish life\, he’ll be delivered. Son\, daughter\, grandson\, great grandson\, wife\, daughter’s son\, brother\, nephew\, cousin’s son\, father\, mother\, daughter-in-law\, son of elderly and younger sisters\, maternal uncle\, anyone in the seven generations and from the same lineage (sapiṇḍa)\, anyone after the seven generations and belonging to the same family domain (samanodak)\, disciple\, priests (upadhyay)\, friend\, son-in-law of the deceased can perform Śrāddha in that order. In case of a joint family\, the eldest and earning male should perform Śrāddha. In the case of the unit family\, everyone should perform śrāddha independently. \nSanatan Dharma has made arrangements so that for each and every dead person śrāddha can be performed so as to give momentum to that person to progress to a higher sub-plane. Dharma Sindhu mentions that: ‘If a particular dead person does not have any relative or a close person\, then it is the duty of the king to perform Śrāddha for that person. Normally every year Śrāddha should be performed on the date of death of the person (the Vaishnava calendar and not as per the Western calendar). \nConsidering the complexity in pronouncing certain Sanskrit words and limitation to understand the rites mentioned in the science\, it may not be possible for everyone to perform the ritual as prescribed\, by themselves. DESCRIPTION:Monday 16 September 2024\nSrila Bhaktivinoda Thakur (1838-1914) is a prominent preceptor acharya in our succession of spiritual masters and disciples coming from Lord Krishna. He was a pioneering spiritual leader\, a householder\, a magistrate working in colonial India under the British rule\, a prolific preacher\, writer\, and poet. He wrote volumes of books reintroducing the pure teachings of Lord Chaitanya at a time when those teachings had practically become lost. He composed hundreds of devotional songs glorifying Krishna to uplift the consciousness of the suffering people of this world. He corresponded with philosophers\, theologians\, leaders\, scholars\, and professors of his time and sent books\, including The Life and Precepts of Lord Chaitanya\, to university libraries in foreign countries\, planting the seeds for a worldwide movement of Krishna consciousness. Bhaktivinoda Thakur discovered and excavated the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya. Along with his devoted wife\, Bhagavati Devi\, he raised ten children\, including the illustrious Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur\, who would become a great spiritual leader in his own time and the spiritual master of ISKCON’s founder-acharya\, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhanu Swami was personally instructed in the art of Deity worship by Srila Prabhupada\, and within ISKCON he has become an authority on the topic. \nA scholar in Sanskrit and Bengali\, Bhanu Swami has translated fifteen significant works of the Gaudiya Vaishnava canon\, with six more titles in progress. Many of these works are commentaries from primary members of the Gaudiya sampradaya on the Bhagavad-gita\, Sri-Isopanishad\, and Srimad Bhagavatam. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the exquisite collection of oil paintings\, featuring profound portraits of Srila Prabhupada\, alongside mesmerising depictions of other revered devotees and Lord Krishna. \nAbout Haridas Thakur Das \nHaridas Thakur Das\, a visual arts graduate with extensive experience in research\, education\, art\, and spirituality\, has dedicated many years as a monk at the Radha Gopinath Temple in downtown Mumbai. His life’s mission has been to promote spiritual wellbeing in society\, inspired by his spiritual master\, HH Radhanath Swami. \nFrom an early age\, Haridas was captivated by art and painting\, receiving training from his devout father\, a talented artist. His brief time in the industry introduced him to the philosophy of Bhakti Yoga\, merging his passions for art and spirituality. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 21 July 2024 – Hyde Park Corner\n\n“Ratha-yatra” means “chariot festival”. This celebration has been held every year for hundreds of years at Jagannatha Puri\, in Orissa on India’s east coast. There\, three huge chariots\, carrying the Deity forms of Jagannatha\, Baladeva and Subhadra\, are pulled by hand through the city streets amid loud musical performances. Millions of pilgrims come to the festival in Orissa. Jagannatha is a special and very merciful form of Krishna. \nRatha-yatra is the biggest street festival sponsored by ISKCON – and ends with a delicious\, sanctified vegetarian feast. It is celebrated by devotees of Lord Krishna all over the world and was introduced to the West by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1967 in San Franscisco. The Ratha-yatra festivals are held at several different places across the country\, the biggest in London. \nThe London procession starts from Hyde Park Corner\, goes through Park Lane\, Piccadilly and Haymarket and finally arrives at Trafalgar Square\, where festivities continue till night. When you come out of the tube station head for the south-east corner of the Park. The Rathayatra assembles near there so look out for the tall brightly coloured canopies of the Rath Carts. \nNational Rail Enquiries for rail information. \nComing by Road\nParking on Sunday is OK on single yellow lines in Westminster or you can stay safe with the NCP car parks. There is one just north of Trafalgar Square. Please remember there is no parking at the assembly point in Hyde Park nor any at Trafalgar Square. \nThe AA main routes and parking information. The procession assembles just inside Hyde Park -500 yards west of Hyde Park Corner. You will clearly spot the three colourful carts as you approach. There are three or four kirtan (singing and instrument) sections\, each with dancers. You can pull the ropes on the cart (which bestows liberation) but please follow the instructions of stewards and staff. The cart leaves Hyde Park promptly at mid-day and arrives at Trafalgar Square around 2.30pm. This can feel like a long journey on a hot day and a OAP van is provided at the rear of the procession for the infirm.
