DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 18 July – Thursday 17 August 2023\nPurusottama Month (also known as Adhika Masa) appears every three years. It is considered an ideal month to engage in spiritual activities and devotees can receive great favour from Lord Krishna through their efforts. During the month devotees are recommended to increase their chanting of the Holy Name\, worship Lord Krishna and make extra endeavour for their spiritual welfare. \nWe have organised a special programme for the month centred around Japa. A bhajan\, a special discussion on the Holy Name and a live japa session will be held each evening. Before or on receiving the conch\, silently declare to the Lord the names of the one or two people you are bathing for (including yourself). \nDo not carry bags while bathing. You will be asked to put them down and collect them again once you have finished bathing. A rucksack is OK. \nBathe from the top only. That means the head of the Deities only – not the feet or arms. \nDo not take selfies while bathing. Give the camera or phone to someone else who is not on the stage. \nPlease offer your obeisances off the stage. \nDevotees are always eager to serve. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 4 June 2023 – Sri Krishna Haveli\n\nReflections on 50 years of Bhaktivedanta Manor with one of the pioneers of the Hare Krishna movement in the UK. \nBio of Shyamasundara Das \nI was born in the body of Samuel Speerstra\, in Salem\, Oregon in May\,1942. From early childhood I thrived on adventure and risk. After graduating from Reed College in 1965\, I met Bhaktivedanta Swami in San Francisco in January 1967\, and immediately became his disciple Shyamasundar Das. The Swami wed me to my girlfriend Melanie (Malati Devi Dasi) in a smoke-filled storefront in Haight-Ashbury we called the Radha-Krishna Temple. \nIn 1968\, to please Swamiji\, I traveled with five chosen devotees to London. There\, we witnessed firsthand Krishna’s magic display; we befriended the Beatles and\, courtesy of Apple Records\, spread Hare Krishna Mantra around the world. In October 1970\, the Swami took twenty of his Western disciples to India\, and together-as Prabhupad and his Dancing White Elephants–we barnstormed the country. In June 1971\, Prabhupad accepted me as his Personal Secretary. I was by Prabhupad’s side\, day and night\, in Europe\, USA\, Africa\, Asia\, Australia-even behind Brezhnev’s Iron Curtain. I never saw him sleep\, I never saw him make an error of any kind. How did I get this lucky\, to observe close-up the life of the Perfect Person? Please use our bus to visit.\nLord Rama is a powerful incarnation of the Supreme Personality of Godhead\, manifesting as an ideal king. If tickets are still available\, we may ask you to book a ticket online via your phone. If not you will be returned from the car parks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I come for mangal arati and guru puja?\n\n\n\nYes. you are welcome to come to Bhaktivedanta Manor before 10am. But if you arrive during the event time (10am–7pm)\, then you will need an entry ticket to enter Bhaktivedanta Manor\, as without a ticket in those times\, you will not be allowed entry. If you arrive before 10am\, you will be allowed to stay for the rest of the day without a ticket. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow long can I stay?\n\n\n\nYou are welcome to stay and enjoy the festivities for as long as you like. Your ticket time only relates to your arrival time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I arrive earlier / later than my booked arrival time?\n\n\n\nIf you arrive 30 mins before or after your booked arrival time\, then you will still be allowed entry. Any earlier than that\, we may ask you to please come back later\, closer to your booked time. Any later than that\, we will try our best to accommodate you\, but it may not be possible to allow entry due to limited parking. The reason for the cost is to ensure your space is guaranteed and that an accurate use of bus spaces can be planned ahead of time. \nYour bus ticket will work as an entry ticket for the festival if using the service. Please do not book a separate entry ticket for the festival. We encourage you to use this service as parking at Bhaktivedanta Manor is limited\, and this will allow more visitors to partake in the celebration. \nThe bus Service will start at 11am from Stanmore.
