On this day\, a small hill of sweets is made from food prepared by the devotees\, which is then offered to the Deities\, and subsequently distributed to everyone. DESCRIPTION:Diwali festival\n\nTHIS YEAR’S DIWALI FESTIVAL HAS BEEN CANCELLED\nHare Krishna\, this year’s Diwali Festival on Sunday the 23rd October has unfortunately been cancelled. We are unable to handle the amount of cars that would be visiting\, due to the bad weather and rainfall which has affected the parking fields. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.\nDarshan will remain open as normal and a ticket is no longer required to enter between 10am-8pm. Note that there will be no stage program.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInformation on tickets\n\n\n\n\nTo help ensure that every pilgrim\, visitor & well-wisher is able to have a pleasant experience\, we require you to book a ticket. Without a ticket\, we will be unable to permit entry\, so please ensure that you do book. \n\n\nTickets FAQ\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen are tickets released?\n\n\n\nTickets will be released on Monday 17 October 2022 between 12 noon – 1 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy do I need a ticket?\n\n\n\n– By booking your time slot\, this helps us create a better and smoother experience for you\, with shorter queues and more space to participate in the festival. \n– Reduces heavy traffic in the surrounding area\, making it easier for you to attend and creates less disruption for locals and non festival-goers. \n– Helps us to be less wasteful\, as we can prepare appropriate quantities of resources and prasadam (sanctified food). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are the ticket times?\n\n\n\nA ticket is required to enter Bhaktivedanta Manor between 10am-8pm. If not you will be returned from the car parks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I come for mangal arati and guru puja?\n\n\n\nYes. you are welcome to come to Bhaktivedanta Manor before 10am. But if you arrive during the event time (10am-8pm)\, then you will need an entry ticket to enter Bhaktivedanta Manor\, as without a ticket in those times\, you will not be allowed entry. If you arrive before 10am\, you will be allowed to stay for the rest of the day without a ticket. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow long can I stay?\n\n\n\nYou are welcome to stay and enjoy the festivities for as long as you like. Your ticket time only relates to your arrival time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I arrive earlier / later than my booked arrival time?\n\n\n\nIf you arrive 30 mins before or after your booked arrival time\, then you will still be allowed entry. Any earlier than that\, we may ask you to please come back later\, closer to your booked time. The name itself comes from Dipavali\, a Sanskrit word referring to the countless rows of lamps which His citizens had lit throughout the kingdom to welcome Him back home (dipa means “lamp\, light or candle\,” and avali means “rows”). During a different era\, this was also the day when Lord Krishna performed His childhood pastime of breaking pots of yogurt and letting His mother bind Him with rope. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Five Days of Diwali\n\n\n\n\nThe first day of Diwali is called Dhanvantari Trayodasi\, which is when Lord Dhanvantari appeared on this planet in order to give Ayurvedic medicine to mankind. On this day\, Hindus pray for protection from untimely death. \nThe second day of Diwali is called Naraka Chaturdasi\, and is the day upon which Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasura and liberated the 16\,000 princesses which the demon had been holding captive. \nThe third day is the actual day of Diwali\, which is when Lord Rama returned to His kingdom after successfully rescuing Sita and defeating the demon Ravana. On this day\, Hindus pray for the blessings of wealth and prosperity\, and for the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. \nOn the fourth day\, Hindus perform Govardhana Puja\, or worship of the sacred hill of Govardhana\, a tradition which Lord Krishna Himself started roughly five thousand years ago. \nThe fifth day of Diwali is called Bhratri Dooj\, which is a day dedicated to honouring the bond between brothers and sisters. DESCRIPTION:Thursday 8 September 2022\nMahatma Prabhu was born in Los Angeles\, California in 1950. In 1969\, at the age of 19\, he first met Srila Prabhupada through The Bhagavad Gita As It Is\, and then later that year met Srila Prabhupada personally in Los Angeles. In January of 1970 he moved into the temple in Berkeley\, California and shortly after received first and second initiation. He went on to do a variety of services including book distribution\, sankirtan leader\, temple president\, college preaching\, congregational development\, and various educational projects. The combination of studying the teachings of bhakti-yoga and practicing the disciplines became a continuous source of inspiration and enlightenment for Michael. Please book below.\nA day of Summer celebrations and festivities\, where everyone can participate in the spiritual music of Kirtan\, browse the various market stalls\, enjoy karma free vegetarian food\, and take part in various exciting activities. The highlight of the day will be the Festival of Colours (two sessions)\, traditionally done to celebrate the arrival of spring and ending of winter\, the festival creates a scene filled with bright and vibrant colours\, a visual feast for the eyes. No matter your age or beliefs\, everyone is welcome to join in the fun of throwing colours\, creating a feeling of unity between all. \nThe market stalls\, kirtan\, and other activities will be running from 4pm-9:30pm. Colours will be purchasable on-site. \nColours are only to be thrown within designated areas. \nOnce you have colours on you\, you will not be allowed in any internal areas of Temple & Sri Krishna Haveli. \nDo not throw colours in people’s eyes or mouth. It is even more fun to rub the colours into the hair\, back of the neck and cheeks with permission.  \nDo not throw colours on any passing cars\, or on any performers\, musicians\, employees\, market stall holders etc.  \nFestival goers are advised to think twice before going into the middle of the crowd when the colours are first thrown. If you have not been before or have asthma\, being smack in the middle of the crowd will be a challenge. Stay close to the edges\, and have a cloth to cover your nose and mouth for the first three minutes. \nUnder no circumstances should small children be in the middle of the crowd\, unless high on the shoulders of an adult\, and wearing the right protection. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I bring my own colours?\n\n\n\nOutside colours will be confiscated and will not be allowed on onsite. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow much does it cost to participate?\n\n\n\nNo entry charge. To avoid and/or minimise stain\, vigorously shake out all dry excess powder before stepping into a shower\, or throwing your clothes in the wash. Once the caked dry colours get wet\, it is hard to get out. SUMMARY:Disappearance of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 28 June 2022\nSrila Bhaktivinoda Thakur (1838-1914) is a prominent preceptor acharya in our succession of spiritual masters and disciples coming from Lord Krishna. He was a pioneering spiritual leader\, a householder\, a magistrate working in colonial India under the British rule\, a prolific preacher\, writer\, and poet. He wrote volumes of books reintroducing the pure teachings of Lord Chaitanya at a time when those teachings had practically become lost. He composed hundreds of devotional songs glorifying Krishna to uplift the consciousness of the suffering people of this world. He corresponded with philosophers\, theologians\, leaders\, scholars\, and professors of his time and sent books\, including The Life and Precepts of Lord Chaitanya\, to university libraries in foreign countries\, planting the seeds for a worldwide movement of Krishna consciousness. Bhaktivinoda Thakur discovered and excavated the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya. Along with his devoted wife\, Bhagavati Devi\, he raised ten children\, including the illustrious Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur\, who would become a great spiritual leader in his own time and the spiritual master of ISKCON’s founder-acharya\, His Divine Grace A.C. DESCRIPTION:Sunday 15 May 2022\nSri Nrisimhadeva is Lord Krishna’s incarnation as half-man\, half-lion. He is glorified\, described and explained in the Vaisnava scripture Srimad Bhagavatam. Devotees pray to this form of the Lord for protection\, not only from physical threats but also from the selfish attachments in our own hearts.  \nLord Nrisimhadeva came to protect his great devotee\, Prahlada Maharaja\, who constantly prayed to Lord Krishna despite being tortured by his father\, Hiranyakashipu.
