If a child is distressed\, please wait until they have calmed down before approaching to bathe. \nYoung children (those under 7 years) will not be given a conch of their own and will need to share with an adult. They can hold the adult’s arm or body. \nDo not touch the Deities. \nPlease only bathe the Deities once\, even if you wish to bathe on behalf of someone else. Before or on receiving the conch\, silently declare to the Lord the names of the one or two people you are bathing for (including yourself). \nDo not carry bags while bathing. You will be asked to put them down and collect them again once you have finished bathing. A rucksack is OK. \nBathe from the top only. That means the head of the Deities only – not the feet or arms. \nDo not take selfies while bathing. DESCRIPTION:Friday 5 July 2024\nSrila Bhaktivinoda Thakur (1838-1914) is a prominent preceptor acharya in our succession of spiritual masters and disciples coming from Lord Krishna. He was a pioneering spiritual leader\, a householder\, a magistrate working in colonial India under the British rule\, a prolific preacher\, writer\, and poet. He wrote volumes of books reintroducing the pure teachings of Lord Chaitanya at a time when those teachings had practically become lost. He composed hundreds of devotional songs glorifying Krishna to uplift the consciousness of the suffering people of this world. He corresponded with philosophers\, theologians\, leaders\, scholars\, and professors of his time and sent books\, including The Life and Precepts of Lord Chaitanya\, to university libraries in foreign countries\, planting the seeds for a worldwide movement of Krishna consciousness. Bhaktivinoda Thakur discovered and excavated the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya. Along with his devoted wife\, Bhagavati Devi\, he raised ten children\, including the illustrious Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur\, who would become a great spiritual leader in his own time and the spiritual master of ISKCON’s founder-acharya\, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. \nDisappearance of Sri Gadhadhara Pandit \nAlso celebrated on this day is the Disappearance of Sri Gadadhara Pandit. Sri Gadadhara Pandita is among the group known as the Panca-tattva\, consisting of Caitanya Mahaprabhu and four of His closest associates. Sri Gadadhara Pandita spent most of his life in Jagannatha Puri worshiping the Tota-Gopinatha Deity\, who is still worshiped in Puri. This pastime took place on the banks of the Ganges at Panihati\, which is just north of Calcutta. Lord Chaitanya and his associates enjoyed many transcendental pastimes here. It is observed eleven days after the full moon and eleven days after the new moon of every month. Ekadasi is known as the day of Lord Hari and is said to be the mother of devotion. Keeping the fast on Ekadasi is one of the sixty-four items of devotional service listed in Srila Rupa Gosvami’s Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. In fact\, it is one of the first ten. \nThe Nectar of Devotion\, Srila Prabhupada’s summary study of Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu\, states\, “In the Brahma-vaivarta Purana it is said that one who observes fasting on Ekadasi day is freed from all kinds of reactions to sinful activities and advances in pious life. The basic principle is not just to fast\, but to increase one’s faith and love for Govinda\, or Krsna. The real reason for observing fasting on Ekadasi is to minimize the demands of the body and to engage our time in the service of the Lord by chanting or performing similar service. The best thing to do on fasting days is to remember the pastimes of Govinda and to hear His holy name constantly.” \nPandava Nirjala Ekadasi \n“Pandava” refers to the Pandavas\, the sons of Emperor Pandu. One such son was Arjuna\, to whom Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita. Another son of Pandu was Bhima\, a most powerful warrior and a most voracious eater. He was not one who welcomed fasting\, and admitted to not being able to follow Ekadasi. However\, he was told that if he observed complete fasting on one particular Ekadasi day annually\, he would get all the spiritual benefits of having followed every Ekadasi fast of the year. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 22 May 2024\nSri Nrisimhadeva is Lord Krishna’s incarnation as half-man\, half-lion. He is glorified\, described and explained in the Vaisnava scripture Srimad Bhagavatam. Devotees pray to this form of the Lord for protection\, not only from physical threats but also from the selfish attachments in our own hearts.  \nLord Nrisimhadeva came to protect his great devotee\, Prahlada Maharaja\, who constantly prayed to Lord Krishna despite being tortured by his father\, Hiranyakashipu. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada\, departed from this world at 9:20am IST on the 5th of May 2024. \nMaharaj is a pillar of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and has served tirelessly in practically every leadership capacity to support and expand the mission of his spiritual master. \nEven before his first meeting with Srila Prabhupada in Montreal\, Canada in 1968\, Maharaj\, known as Gopal Krishna from his very birth\, was given the service of cleaning and preparing Srila Prabhupada’s rooms. Srila Prabhupada initiated Maharaj as Gopal Krishna Das and thus began a lifetime of service beyond compare. \nMaharaj served for years as Srila Prabhupada’s personal secretary and was appointed by Srila Prabhupada as a Governing Body Commissioner in 1975 with responsibility to oversee all of ISKCON India. Srila Prabhupada thereafter entrusted Maharaj with the task so dear to his heart – the printing of his transcendental books. \nFrom that time\, Maharaj has been an emblem of book distribution\, sharing of Krishna consciousness\, building beautiful temples\, and managing the international affairs of Srila Prabhupada’s mission. \nHis Holiness Gopal Krishna Maharaj personifies the heart of ISKCON and will remain eternally revered and loved for his matchless service\, dedication and expertise in knowing and serving Srila Prabhupada’s will. If tickets are still available\, we may ask you to book a ticket online via your phone. If not you will be returned from the car parks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCan I come for mangal arati and guru puja?\n\n\n\nYes. you are welcome to come to Bhaktivedanta Manor before 9am. But if you arrive during the event time (9am–7pm)\, then you will need an entry ticket to enter Bhaktivedanta Manor\, as without a ticket in those times\, you will not be allowed entry. If you arrive before 9am\, you will be allowed to stay for the rest of the day without a ticket. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow long can I stay?\n\n\n\nYou are welcome to stay and enjoy the festivities for as long as you like. Your ticket time only relates to your arrival time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat if I arrive earlier / later than my booked arrival time?\n\n\n\nIf you arrive 30 mins before or after your booked arrival time\, then you will still be allowed entry. Any earlier than that\, we may ask you to please come back later\, closer to your booked time. Any later than that\, we will try our best to accommodate you\, but it may not be possible to allow entry due to limited parking.
