SUMMARY:Disappearance of Sri Jayananda Prabhu
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 29 April 2026\n\nSchedule\nLocation: Temple Room \n7am – 9am\nMorning Program & Class \n12pm – 4pm\nHarinam & Book Distribution  in Watford Town Centre \n6pm – 7:30pm\nSpecial Class by & Gaura Arati \nPrasadam Times | Seva Hall\n9am Breakfast\n5pm Dinner (until 6:30pm) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	About\n\n“Everyone should follow the example of Jayananda. I am very proud that I had such a nice disciple. If possible Jayananda’s picture should be hung in the ratha of Lord Jagannatha\, and in all of our temples a day may be set aside for holding a festival in his honor\, just as we do on the disappearance day of the other great Vaisnavas.” – Srila Prabhupada Letter to Ramesvara\, New Delhi\, 11 May 1977 \nAfter the disappearance of Jayananda Das on May 1\, 1977\, His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada instructed devotees all over the world to commemorate the event every year as they would any great Vaishnava’s disappearance day. \nJayananda was always ready to do whatever was necessary to push on Krishna consciousness. He was expert at everything: cooking\, preaching\, Deity worship\, public relations\, sankirtan\, selling incense\, construction\, and everything else it takes to run a temple. He was a tireless worker. He would be the first one up in the morning and the last one to sleep at night. It was Jayananda who was always running out to get the flowers\, Jayananda who was washing dishes and making sure the kitchen was clean\, Jayananda who was often missing class while he was out doing some service\, and Jayananda who was always encouraging others to go out and preach\, and setting the example himself. \nWhatever assignment he was given\, he would always get done\, even if he had to suffer personally for it. No matter how hard he was working\, he would never stop for a nap during the day. He seemed to be inexhaustible. \nFrom a Back to Godhead article by Kalakantha dasa. SUMMARY:Appearance of Sri Nrisimhadeva
DESCRIPTION:Thurs 30 Apr 2026\nSri Nrisimhadeva is Lord Krishna’s incarnation as half-man\, half-lion. He is glorified\, described and explained in the Vaisnava scripture Srimad Bhagavatam. Nrsimhadeva outwitted the demon Hiranyakashipu\, who thought that he had been blessed to never die under any circumstance. \nNrisimha Caturdasi\, the appearance of Sri Nrisimhadeva is a day to pray for protection and celebrate His glories. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule (Subject to change)\n\nMorning Programme | 4:30am – 11:30am\nMangal Arati\, Guru Puja\, Deity Darshan\, Kirtan\, Class\, Narasimha Kavach Yajna \nAfternoon Programme in Sri Krishna Haveli\nTimings & Schedule TBC \n(Get the blessings of all vaisnavas\, by sponsoring prasad. SUMMARY:London Rathayatra
DESCRIPTION:Sunday 24 May 2026\n\n“Ratha-yatra” means “chariot festival”. This celebration has been held every year for hundreds of years at Jagannatha Puri\, in Orissa on India’s east coast. There\, three huge chariots\, carrying the Deity forms of Jagannatha\, Baladeva and Subhadra\, are pulled by hand through the city streets amid loud musical performances. Millions of pilgrims come to the festival in Orissa. Jagannatha is a special and very merciful form of Krishna. \nRatha-yatra is the biggest street festival sponsored by ISKCON – and ends with a delicious\, sanctified vegetarian feast. It is celebrated by devotees of Lord Krishna all over the world and was introduced to the West by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1967 in San Franscisco. The Ratha-yatra festivals are held at several different places across the country\, the biggest in London. \nThe London procession starts from Park Lane and goes through Piccadilly and Haymarket and finally arrives at Trafalgar Square\, where festivities continue till the evening. Drama\, dance\, philosophy and a feast are the highlights. \nLondon Rathayatra will take place on Sunday 24 May 2026 (www.rathayatra.co.uk) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\n12pm – Ratha-yatra parade starts at Park Lane junction with Piccadilly\, heading for Trafalgar Square \n2-5pm – Trafalgar Square – Kirtan\, Dance\, Prasad \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do I get there?\n\n\n\n\nComing by Train & Tube\nFrom any of the main London railway stations come on the Piccadilly Line and get off at Hyde Park Corner. \nNational Rail Enquiries for rail information. \nComing by Road\nParking on Sunday is OK on single yellow lines in Westminster or you can stay safe with the NCP car parks. SUMMARY:Pandava Nirjala Ekadasi
DESCRIPTION:Thurs 25 Jun 2026 | Schedule\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\nMorning Program (Temple Room)\n4:30am – Mangal Arati\n7:00am – Darshan & Guru Puja\n7:30am – Class \nEvening Program (Temple Room)\n5pm – Kirtan & Glories of Ekadasi\n7pm –  Gaura / Sandhya Arati\n7:30pm – Kirtan\n9pm – Shayan Arati\n9:30pm – Finish \nAbout Ekadasi \nEkadasi is one of the regular celebrations in the Vaishnava calendar. It is observed eleven days after the full moon and eleven days after the new moon of every month. Ekadasi is known as the day of Lord Hari and is said to be the mother of devotion. Keeping the fast on Ekadasi is one of the sixty-four items of devotional service listed in Srila Rupa Gosvami’s Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu. In fact\, it is one of the first ten. \nThe Nectar of Devotion\, Srila Prabhupada’s summary study of Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu\, states\, “In the Brahma-vaivarta Purana it is said that one who observes fasting on Ekadasi day is freed from all kinds of reactions to sinful activities and advances in pious life. The basic principle is not just to fast\, but to increase one’s faith and love for Govinda\, or Krsna. The real reason for observing fasting on Ekadasi is to minimize the demands of the body and to engage our time in the service of the Lord by chanting or performing similar service. The best thing to do on fasting days is to remember the pastimes of Govinda and to hear His holy name constantly.” \nPandava Nirjala Ekadasi \n“Pandava” refers to the Pandavas\, the sons of Emperor Pandu. One such son was Arjuna\, to whom Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita. Another son of Pandu was Bhima\, a most powerful warrior and a most voracious eater. He was not one who welcomed fasting\, and admitted to not being able to follow Ekadasi. However\, he was told that if he observed complete fasting on one particular Ekadasi day annually\, he would get all the spiritual benefits of having followed every Ekadasi fast of the year. He and his brothers thus all agreed to fast on that day (Pandava Nirjala Ekadasi). \n“Nirjala” means “no water.” Strict followers of Pandava Nirjala Ekadasi observe a total fast today\, even from water. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. SUMMARY:Jhulan Yatra
DESCRIPTION:Sun 23 – Thurs 27 Aug 2026\n\nThe five-day celebration of Jhulan at Bhaktivedanta Manor\, when Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda are placed on a swing and swung by Their devotees\, is a joyous occasion. \nDuring this special time all of us can throng to the temple and please the transcendental eternal forms of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda. These transcendental forms of the Lord\, called Archa-Vigraha\, are installed in the temple and are non-different from Them personally. These forms are expanded by the Lord by His internal potency to facilitate the devotional service of His innumerable devotees who are in the material world. \nSince our material senses cannot perceive the spiritual nature of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda\, They accept such Archa Vigraha apparently made of a material element such as marble\, but actually there is no material contamination. The  Supreme Personality of Godhead and His eternal consort are waiting for us to fill our hearts with transcendental happiness by serving Their beautiful transcendental forms as They swing at Bhaktivedanta Manor during Jhulan-yatra. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Schedule\n\nMorning 7am \nEvening 4:45pm-6:15pm \nPlease bring your own flowers to offer to the deities \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Frequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWill there be parking available?\n\n\n\nYes. Do not use WD25 8EZ\, as this will lead you to a nearby village. \nFor Public Transport & Map\, please CLICK HERE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Bhagavad-Gita \nBhagavad Gita is organised into 18 chapters and contains 700 verses. The Gita can also be divided into three sections (6 chapters each): \nSection 1: Karma Yoga\nSection 2: Bhakti Yoga\nSection 3: Jnana Yoga \nThe word “yoga” is nowadays associated with stretching postures and exercises\, yet its true meaning is “the process of linking”. Specifically\, it refers to the process of linking our activities to the Supreme Person\, God. \nThe daily reading of Bhagavad Gita together with chanting the Hare Krishna mantra can bring about rapid spiritual advancement for any person. \nOut of numerous translations of the Gita\, “Bhagavad Gita As It Is” shines foremost as it brings to bear the purity and competence of its author and offers answers carefully preserved by a chain of teachers which can be traced back to Lord Sri Krishna. \n“Bhagavad Gita As It Is” consists of Sanskrit verses together with translations and purports by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Within the pages of the Gita\, the workings of karma\, reincarnation and yoga are to be found\, as instructed by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. \nWe invite you to explore this marvellous work. \n\n\nRefresh your soul in the company of senior vaishnavas. The entire 700 verses of the Gita will be recited\, and chapter summaries will be presented. A fire yajna will be conducted throughout the recitation. \nGita Jayanti offers the opportunity to celebrate the appearance of Bhagavad Gita and to distribute this gem to many others. You are invited to sponsor Bhagavad Gitas and distribute them to your friends\, family and colleagues. Alternatively the Temple on your behalf will place them in schools\, universities\, hospitals or prisons through its various programmes. \nThe Bhagavad Gita is a transcendental dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and His devotee Arjuna. Spoken at the outset of a great battle\, it is an encyclopedia for humanity. \nIn contrast to the atheistic scientist’s purely physical (and hence incomplete) description of everything\, Bhagavad Gita makes a distinction between the spiritual self and the material body. \nThe mind\, intelligence and senses are discussed in terms of their strengths and limitations\, and guidelines are given for their intended use.
