He holds numerous degrees including a PhD in Hinduism from the University of Oxford. He also holds the Charles Redd Chair of Religious Studies at Utah State University\, and serves as Director of the Religious Studies Program. \nHe is the author or editor of four books\, including an abridged translation of the Bhagavata Purana.He has received four teaching awards\, a National Endowment for the Humanities summer fellowship\, and two research fellowships at Oxford. He is a Permanent Research Fellow of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies and a past president of the Society for Hindu Christian Studies. DESCRIPTION:Monday 8 August – Friday 12 August 2022\n\nThe five-day festival of Jhulan at Bhaktivedanta Manor\, when Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda are placed on a swing and swung by Their devotees\, is a joyous occasion. \nDuring this special time all of us can throng to the temple and please the transcendental eternal forms of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda. These transcendental forms of the Lord\, called Archa-Vigraha\, are installed in the temple and are non-different from Them personally. These forms are expanded by the Lord by His internal potency to facilitate the devotional service of His innumerable devotees who are in the material world. \nSince our material senses cannot perceive the spiritual nature of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda\, They accept such Archa Vigraha apparently made of a material element such as marble\, but actually there is no material contamination. DESCRIPTION:Friday 12 August 2022\nMichael Cassidy [Mangalananda Das] was born May 16\, 1949 in Manchester\, New Hampshire\, USA. \nIn 1971\, Michael became an initiated disciple of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami\, the renowned scholar who translated Bhagavad-gita: As It Is\, the jewel of India’s spiritual wisdom. The combination of studying the teachings of bhakti-yoga and practicing the disciplines became a continuous source of inspiration and enlightenment for Michael. He had the opportunity to debut his work prior to his first indie release\, A Change of Heart. In an intimate meeting with his spiritual teacher in 1975\, his guru was very pleased and blessed the project. A Change of Heart was released in 1976 followed by four more albums between 1977 and 1985. \nThis concert is free for everyone to attend\, no ticket required. Do ask if you are unsure about anything. \nPujaris are unable to carry your children so kindly carry very small ones (1 child per adult)\, unless they can walk. If a child is distressed\, please wait until they have calmed down before approaching to bathe. \nYoung children (those under 7 years) will not be given a conch of their own and will need to share with an adult. They can hold the adult’s arm or body. \nDo not touch the Deities. \nPlease only bathe the Deities once\, even if you wish to bathe on behalf of someone else.
