SUMMARY:'Srila Prabhupada' The Divine Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sat 27 & Sun 28 July 2024\nTime: 10am-7pm each day \nLocation: Bhakti Lounge (near the Temple Room)\nYou are cordially invited to the exclusive opening of Srila Prabhupada: The Divine Art Exhibition\, a magnificent showcase by the esteemed artist Haridas Thakur Das. This is a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the exquisite collection of oil paintings\, featuring profound portraits of Srila Prabhupada\, alongside mesmerising depictions of other revered devotees and Lord Krishna. \nAbout Haridas Thakur Das \nHaridas Thakur Das\, a visual arts graduate with extensive experience in research\, education\, art\, and spirituality\, has dedicated many years as a monk at the Radha Gopinath Temple in downtown Mumbai. His life’s mission has been to promote spiritual wellbeing in society\, inspired by his spiritual master\, HH Radhanath Swami. \nFrom an early age\, Haridas was captivated by art and painting\, receiving training from his devout father\, a talented artist. His brief time in the industry introduced him to the philosophy of Bhakti Yoga\, merging his passions for art and spirituality. This fusion led him to join the Mumbai monastery\, where he embarked on a project to illustrate the pastimes and incarnations of Lord Krishna\, now beautifully displayed on the walls of the Radha Gopinath Temple. \nDriven by a missionary spirit and inspired by the life and teachings of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada\, Haridas has created over 50 oil paintings and authored “Illustrations and Illuminations\,” a book featuring his depictions of Srila Prabhupada and an artistic exploration of Vedic theology. His artwork\, characterised by detailed characters\, vibrant shades\, and unique perspectives\, brings a divine essence to his subjects. \nDrawing inspiration from Bhakti texts like the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam\, as well as celebrated artists such as Raja Ravi Varma\, S.M. Pandit\, Rembrandt\, and William-Adolphe Bouguereau\, Haridas merges classical and spiritual influences in his work.\nIn addition to sharing his artistic knowledge with enthusiasts\, Haridas also teaches contemporary wisdom from Bhakti texts at prestigious institutions like the JJ School of Art and to members of the Indian Navy and Army in Mumbai. \nFree to attend
