Sat 17 May 2025
Ramananda Ray was a governor of South India and a great devotee of Krishna. When Lord Chaitanya went on His tour to South India, Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya told Him to meet Ramananda Ray. There the famous conversation took place in which Lord Chaitanya asked Ramananda Ray about the ultimate goal of life. Lord Chaitanya kept on urging him to say something higher, until finally he came to the understanding of pure love for Krishna. Ramananda Ray later gave up all his responsibilities and joined Lord Chaitanya in Jagannath Puri, spending many years as one of Lord Chaitanya’s closest associates. According to Vedic scriptures, He is considered to be an incarnation of Arjuna, the great warrior with whom Krishna spoke the Bhagavad-gita.
