Course Description
Celebrate the beauty of the autumn season with a fun and meaningful afternoon at Holland Farm. Designed for a small group of children, this special three-hour workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature, make new friends, and enjoy a creative devotional activity together. Children will begin by choosing their very own pumpkin before learning how to transform it into a beautiful diya lantern. With plenty of guidance and support, they'll safely carve their pumpkins into unique creations that can be used to hold a diya, bringing light and warmth into the home. Throughout the session, we'll reflect on the importance of caring for Mother Nature and appreciating the gifts that Krishna provides through His creation. As children create with their hands, they'll also be encouraged to develop gratitude, creativity, and an understanding that even simple natural gifts can be used in Krishna's service. With limited spaces to ensure a personal and enjoyable experience, this workshop is perfect for children who love being outdoors, getting creative, and learning devotional values in a fun, relaxed environment. Every child will leave with their own handcrafted pumpkin diya holder, happy memories, and a deeper appreciation for nature as one of Krishna's wonderful gifts.
*Please note due to the hot weather having a negative impact on crops, we will have to review the growth of pumpkins closer to the time. If we cancel due to this, you will get a full refund
Teacher Bio
Shyam Hari das is actively involved in the horticulture project at the New Gokul Farm. Inspired by the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and having spent his early childhood in a traditional home with cows and growing all food in their own farm, ecology, self-sufficiency and sustainability has been a subject close to his heart. Beyond his day job of working as a Solution Architect within public sector, he is a regular speaker on Vedic philosophy of Varnasrama dharma and particularly passionate about training young children and families in natural living, cow care and organic farming.
