Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja was renowned as a perfectly realized soul. In his place of worship in Vrindavana he would sometimes chant continuously for three days and nights without eating or sleeping.

After Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura had tentatively located the appearance place of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, despite his advanced age Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja confirmed the location by dancing in ecstasy at the spot. His ecstatic dancing was taken as a sign of the authenticity of Mahaprabhu’s appearance place.

Throughout his long life, with great love Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji constantly told others about the holy name, fame, qualities and pastimes of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura accepted Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji as his siksha guru.
