Key Stage 2 pupils at Gurukula – The Hare Krishna Primary School regularly take part in outreach presentations, sharing their understanding of Vaishnavism with pupils in local primary schools. These sessions give our children meaningful opportunities to communicate their faith confidently and respectfully, while helping others learn about important spiritual concepts.
Over the past few years, Gurukula pupils have presented both online and in person to several schools, including Longwood, St Meryl, Cannon Lane, Millbrook Primary, and St Andrew’s. Each presentation is carefully prepared and led by the children themselves, with support from their teachers.
In their most recent outreach, Baladeva Class (Years 3 and 4) delivered an online session to St Andrew’s School, Hertford, focusing on the concepts of karma and reincarnation. Using a PowerPoint presentation they had created themselves, the pupils explained these ideas clearly and simply.
They spoke with confidence and maturity, demonstrating a strong understanding of the subject as well as excellent communication skills. Pupils from St Andrew’s asked thoughtful and probing questions, which our children answered calmly and insightfully. We were especially proud of how well they represented themselves and Gurukula, engaging positively with pupils from another school community.

At Gurukula, developing oracy and confidence is a key part of our curriculum. Within faith education, pupils are encouraged not only to learn about our practices, but also to reflect on the philosophy behind them. Outreach presentations provide valuable opportunities to articulate complex ideas accessibly, while deepening pupils’ own understanding.
These experiences help our pupils grow into confident speakers, thoughtful thinkers, and respectful ambassadors of their faith. The presentations are always warmly received. After Vrindavan Class (Years 5 and 6) spoke to 90 Year 1 pupils at Cannon Lane Primary about Sacred Sound, the Assistant Headteacher praised the pupils for their engaging, well-prepared presentation, exemplary singing and playing, and the pride they brought to their school.
