‘Prasad’ means ‘mercy’, and we usually associate it with vegetarian food that’s been offered to Krishna with love and devotion. There are many delightful pastimes of Krishna and Sri Chaitanya who, along with Their devotees, relish and rejoice in prasad.
To share Krishna prasad with others, and to accept the prasad they offer us, is a natural, pleasing interaction that benefits everyone involved – the person who collects the ingredients, the cook, the devotee who offers the meal, and those who partake in the offering.
The food we eat affects our minds and health. As Krishna’s devotees, we eat only Krishna prasad because our goal is to develop our innate love for Krishna. As we eat (we call it ‘honour’) prasad, we’ll notice our consciousness is uplifted; it’s spiritualised.
The path to happiness is through loving exchanges, and a natural exchange that enhances our love is, along with others, to accept Krishna prasad.
August Challenge
Can we graciously accept whatever Krishna prasad we’re offered?
