Sharing the Light of Diwali at Downing Street

Visakha Dasi, Temple President of Bhaktivedanta Manor, delivered an inspiring address at this year’s Diwali celebration at 10 Downing Street, attended by Prime Minister Andy Burnham MP, and other distinguished guests. Drawing upon the ancient wisdom of the Bhagavad-gita, she highlighted how the lights of Diwali symbolise the knowledge that dispels darkness within our hearts. Quoting Chapter Six, Verse 32 , she encouraged everyone to develop genuine empathy for the suffering of others, regardless of their background or circumstances. She emphasised the importance of compassion, urging communities to look beyond personal interests and become well-wishing friends of all living beings.
