Indradyumna Swami is particularly known within ISKCON for his highly mobile, large-scale and culturally engaging style of sharing spiritual techniques. Rather than focusing on one temple or congregation, he takes Krishna consciousness directly to large public audiences around the world.
His activities include:
- Travelling: Since 1986, he has travelled extensively, preaching in countries including Poland, the United States, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Ukraine.
- Polish Festival of India: Since 1990, he has helped organise this major annual touring festival along Poland’s Baltic coast, with individual events attracting thousands of people.
- Sharing culture: His festivals combine kirtan, dance, theatre, music, Bhagavad-gita presentations, vegetarian food and crafts, offering an attractive introduction to Bhakti.
- Large public events: His teams have also participated in major events such as Poland’s Woodstock festival, reaching audiences who might not normally visit an ISKCON temple.
- Kirtan and harinama: Public chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra is central to his preaching, using music and participation as an accessible entry point into Krishna consciousness.
- Retreats and pilgrimages: He organises major kirtan retreats and pilgrimage programmes, while also giving lectures and encouraging devotees in their own preaching.
- Personal storytelling: His Diary of a Traveling Monk, begun in 1995, documents his worldwide travels, preaching experiences and spiritual reflections.
Indradyumna Swami emphasises making spiritual life attractive and experiential, combining philosophy with music, beauty, food and drama.
