Course Description

Discover the art of devotional flower arranging in this creative and hands-on workshop. This session is designed to teach you the fundamental techniques of floral arrangement while cultivating beauty for sacred spaces.

During the workshop, you will:

  • Learn essential flower arrangement techniques
  • How to condition flowers to keep them fresh
  • Learn to use Focal flower, transitional flowers fillers flower correctly
  • How to shape arrangement Important of texture in an arrangement
  • Explore how to pair different flowers, colours, and textures harmoniously
  • Create a small flower arrangement for your personal altar
  • Take home your finished arrangement to enjoy

All materials will be provided, so you can fully relax and immerse yourself in the process. This workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone wishing to enhance their altar worship with fresh flowers and mindful creativity.

Teacher Bio

Champakalata Mataji, also known as Chaya Kotak, is an experienced and passionate florist with a deep commitment to both her craft and devotional service. She holds a City & Guilds Level 2 qualification in Floristry and has developed a strong reputation for her creativity and attention to detail.

She specialises in wedding garlands, bouquets, bridal floral designs, and funeral arrangements, bringing sensitivity and artistry to each occasion. Her work reflects both technical skill and a refined aesthetic, tailored to meet the unique needs of her clients.

Champakalata Mataji has also shared her knowledge as a Floristry Tutor for City & Guilds Level 1 at Slough Adult Education, where she supported beginners in developing foundational skills and confidence in floral design.

Alongside her professional work, she has been a dedicated volunteer at Soho Temple for over 15 years, leading the decoration of the temple room and designing flowers for major festivals throughout the year. Her devotional service is a key inspiration behind her floral artistry.

She also runs a Facebook page, Krishna’s Florists, where she showcases her work and connects with the wider community.
