Engaging with RE Teachers from Across UK

Representatives from Bhaktivedanta Manor recently attended one of the largest Religious Education (RE) conferences organised by National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE). The event took place in Solihull and brought together hundreds of RE teachers and educational leaders from across the UK.

NATRE is the leading professional association supporting teachers of Religious Education and worldviews, working to empower educators and ensure that RE continues to be taught effectively within the national curriculum. Events such as this conference provide valuable opportunities for teachers to access resources, share ideas, and strengthen the teaching of religion in classrooms.

Representing Bhaktivedanta Manor were Tulsi Seva Dasi, a NATRE member, and Krsnandini Dasi, Head of ISKCON Educational Services at the Manor. During the conference they engaged with hundreds of teachers and RE specialists, sharing information about the temple and its long-established school visit programmes.

While many schools have been visiting the Manor for years, outreach at events like this remains essential. Teachers frequently move between schools, and new educators enter the profession, making it important to continually share information about the educational opportunities available at the Manor.

The team also had the opportunity to present and sell educational books that are widely used by teachers in their RE lessons, helping students gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of Hindu beliefs and practices.

“Participation in conferences like this plays an important role in supporting teachers and ensuring that authentic and well-informed perspectives on the Hindu faith are represented in classrooms across the country” explained Krsnandini Dasi.
