Albert Einstein said, “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”
A healthy mind is an inquiring mind, but what should we inquire about? We may ask, “How are you?” many times in a day, but the answers, like the question, are usually superficial. To build caring, meaningful relationships, we need to go deeper. Why not ask someone dear to you what they’re actually experiencing in the journey of their heart? In the Bhagavad-gita, when Arjuna has doubts, he turns to Sri Krishna, the Person he trusts, and Krishna helps him in all respects.
In a similar way, if we genuinely ask someone about their wellbeing, perhaps we can help them overcome their personal challenges. To do this well, let’s always remember that ultimately each of us is a spirit soul – a jivatma. When we go to the core of our being we’ll find that our actual identity is not material but spiritual.
July Challenge
Reflect on the calibre of your questions. Are they petty or profound? Could you try asking deeper questions?
