Course Description

If you always wanted to learn to play Bansuri-melodic, captivating, soothing Flute, under the guidance of a highly experienced Music teacher this is your opportunity.

He’s been playing Bansuri flute for many years at the Bhaktivedanta Manor temple accompanying Kirtan and Bhajans for the pleasure of Their Lordships.

In the beginners’ course you’ll be learning how to blow and play the flute and learn Alankars, Meends, Komal Swars, Volume Control & various techniques and styles of music through Raagas. Course will consist of learning Palata for finger speed and how to Notate a melody.

Please join us for this rare opportunity to study and journey into the world of this beautiful Flute instrument.

This course will be run in person only (Paramatma room, Haveli).

You will need to bring your own Bansuri Flute to the sessions, this will not be provided. Scale required is C# (sharp) Bamboo/ Bansuri flute right hand side and blowing from side.

Teacher Bio:

Prema Sankirtana das has over 40 yrs of experience in Indian and Western music and regularly attends many kirtan events both in the UK and Internationally. Inspired by his father, who was an expert bhajan singer, Prema Sankirtana studied sastra and sangeet in Indian classical music from the famous Dr. Usha Parkhi (classical vocalist) from Nagpur India. He completed Western Symphony Orchestral, Electronic Sound Synthesis music and Pianoforte courses. His musical talents led to live performances in Indian Bollywood music during the 80’s and 90’s, not only with own band but also as a freelance musician. Since the late 90’s, Prema Sankirtana das has been regularly singing from the heart many bhajans and kirtans for ISKCON by the blessings of Guru and Srila Prabhupada.
