An ode to the Book Distributors

By Visakha Dasi

My dear Prabhus,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Hare Krishna! You are our heroes, the heroes of Bhaktivedanta Manor. We are so proud of you and grateful to you for putting yourselves out there, braving not only the elements—the cold, the rain, the wind—but even more, opening yourselves to be humiliated by the people to whom you’re offering the highest gift. What you’re doing is called seva, divine selfless service. It’s extremely rare and extremely precious. And in this mad world, the gift you’re giving, the gift of Krishna consciousness, is extremely needed.

More than ever, the people of this world need Srila Prabhupada’s teachings. His words and example have helped each one of us, saving us from a life of frustration, improving every aspect of our existence, and giving us true values, direction and hope – and Prabhupada’s teachings can similarly help everyone else. The spreading of Krishna consciousness is the supreme welfare activity.

Please carry on distributing books with full hearted enthusiasm, knowing that the sacred service you’re doing is the desire of Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda. The Bhagavatam declares, “when one performs benevolent activities for others, the Supreme Personality of Godhead is pleased.” The Lord very quickly recognises such service performed by His devotee. And if the Lord and this representative are pleased, what is there left to achieve?

Thank you very much! All glories to your service. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
